My Creative Space: fiddly fingers

Sewing has all been a bit technical around here lately.

I found pieces of my sewing machine that I never knew existed. They caused some curiosity, and frustration, while I tried to work out how it all worked and went together.

There were lots of mistakes that were both useful in the learning process :), and just plain stupidity on my part :o. Things started to get a bit sweaty and smeared and the unpicker got a real workout.

And then, triumph! A row of six buttonholes. (Things were a bit tired and slightly out of focus by this point.)

Oh, I'm so impressed. I'm yet to explore these things on my machine.

Have you tried vintage feet? My life as a seamstress was never the same after I found the narrow hemmer foot and ruffler.

P.s. love the happy faces.

Clever you! I haven't attempted much more than the simple straight stitch on my machine, it's all a little scary...

LOL, great post. I must remember to draw happy faces on my fingers next time I have to use my seam ripper or make a button hole. I should imagine there would be a lot less swearing and unhappiness over the whole experience!

i'm wondering if there was more blue in the air than just the fabric? LOL there would have been at my place.

Yeah for mastering button holes with happy faces! I have forgotten how to make button holes and I have avoided them when choosing patterns, one day I'll give them a try.
